Olena Lopatina
Born in Ukraine, Olena moved to Canada in 1997. She is now living in Richmond Hill, Ontario, and has become an active artist in the community. Olena attained a Bachelor of Arts degree at the Academy of Arts and Design in Kharkov, Ukraine. She also holds a degree in Computer Graphic Design and Multimedia Web Design. As a member of the Richmond Hill Group of Artists (RHGA) she has participated in numerous solo and group art shows. In the 2009 RHGA Juried Show she received 2 Honourable Mentions for the paintings: "In the Shadow" and "Autumn Song". Olena has received an invitation to exhibit her artwork in the 2009 Florence Biennale in Italy. Olena's work can be found in many private collections in Russia, Ukraine, Canada and the USA. Her passion for nature is reflected in her painting as she finds much of her imagery outdoors in the ever-changing landscape and in her perennial garden. Olena’s artwork is a reflection of her attention to detail and appreciation of her natural surroundings. She blends colours, textures and patterns together to capture nature’s complex, yet simplistic beauty. "Nothing is so perfect and so beautiful as nature. I have always been fascinated by the harmony and the beauty of nature. To study nature has always been a source of great pleasure for me. Much of my imagery is found just by opening my door, outside in the ever-changing landscape and in the garden. I want the viewer to be able to feel like they are actually there every time they look at one of my paintings." |
