Mixed Media

This course aims to teach students creativity & self expression, using multi-media (excluding watercolour), specifically oils, acrylics and inks on canvas. At the heart of this course is imagination, intuition and freedom to explore different techniques and different mediums. Students will learn composition, texture and colour in abstract, figurative and surreal forms. Using photographs and drawings of their choice, students will be able to build on composition focusing on space, colour, light and abstraction. Diploma in Applied Art at Bombay's Sophia College, 1984 -1986 Central Saint Martins College of Arts, University of the Arts, London, United Kingdom, Easter 2009. Portraiture

The basic steps to portraiture, proportion, form of the face, and texture will be covered. We will be studying portraits of people and animals. The mediums used will be charcoal, pastel and acrylic. Guoyue Dou: Graduated from Tianjin Art College, China working as a graphic designer and art professor, then moved to New York where he continued as an artist and graphic designer. Perspective

The Art of Perspective. Students can use any medium of their choice. The focus will be on Natural perspective, Linear perspective, Vanishing points and more. Students are encouraged to take photos of street scenes, houses or anything with depth, to be used for study and painting in class. Khatcho Yazedjian: Immigrated to Canada in 1970. In 1961 after 4 years of study, graduated from Italian Art Schools “Leonardo Da Vinci’s Technical and Architectural draftsman. Khatcho has been a member of RHGA since 1977. His preferred medium is watercolour, which he utilizes to depict Canadian landscape and wildlife with mystique and transparency.

Wednesday evenings: Starts September 22, 2010
Watercolour

A full program teaching techniques and tips to enhance the watercolourist experience. Each person learns at his or her level and pace. Demos are provided every class. Paint landscapes, floral, and figurative work. Painting is a wonderful stress release and a great way to relax. Participation in a student art show available for the spring. All levels.

Participants may select either or explore both mediums and demos will be done in both mediums. You will paint landscapes, waterscapes, and floral using brushes and palette knife. This is an exciting course where the process is equally as important as the product. The course is built on the premise that enjoyment is important. All levels. Valerie Kent B.Ed., B.F.A., M.F.A., teaches watercolour, acrylic, oil and mixed media at all levels in colleges, for art societies and schools across Ontario and in France and Italy. Her art is in many commercial galleries and her writing appears in local, national and international publications. |
